Australia's middle order enforcer Josh Inglis said their depleted side will draw a lot of confidence after pulling off a record chase against England in their Champions Trophy opener on Saturday.

England-born Josh Inglis smashed 120 off just 86 balls and forged a 146-run stand with Alex Carey (69) to help Australia script the highest-ever chase in an ICC tournament as they defeated England by five wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025.

None of this, Inglis understood, would be helpful to worry about. "We were in and around the run rate to start off with, so that was a big help," Inglis said after the game. "The partnership between Shorty [Matt Short] and Marnus [Labuschagne] was really important.
