Northumbria Police said a woman in her 90s and another in her 80s died after a BMW that was reported stolen crashed into Highcliffe Care Home in Witherwack.

Two men have been charged after a BMW that was being followed by police crashed into their care home in Sunderland, killing two elderly women.

Two people have been arrested after a car crashed into a care home during a police chase. Eight people were taken to hospital after the BMW, allegedly stolen from Newcastle crashed through the wall of Highcliffe Care Home in Witherwack, Sunderland last night.
