Mahomes, Hunt lead Chiefs to dominant 28-7 win over Commanders, their 9th straight in the series
Patrick Mahomes threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Washington Commanders 28-7.
The Commanders fought hard for a half against the Kansas City Chiefs, but in the second half it was clear the two teams weren’t on the same plane.
Despite exiting the game earlier than expected, Pacheco led the team in rushing yards, with 12 carries for 58 yards, adding to what had been a strong 2025 campaign. Through eight games, he has rushed for 329 yards and one touchdown (4.2 yards per carry), serving as the engine of Kansas City’s ground attack.
A strange start. A familiar finish. The Chiefs have scored at least 28 points in five straight games, their first time on that kind of streak in four years. Patrick Mahomes’ final game as the backup quarterback he watched the Chiefs blow an 18-point lead in the second half of a playoff game.
Here's where the Washington Commanders stand in a multitude of power rankings around the NFL as we enter Week 9.
