The heads of state of all 27 European Union nations will meet for an "extraordinary meeting" later this week, European council president Antonio Costa said on Sunday.
Europe has options but they are limited and not easy to co-ordinate. The 27 members of the European Union, plus Britain, Norway, Iceland and war-torn Ukraine, need a plan they can all live with. The initial question was whether to respond at all.
Bessent's comments came a day after President Donald Trump said he would impose tariffs on European countries that reject his push to control Greenland.
