The NBA’s decision to fine Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will lead to more questions about a league-wide celebration.
Ja Morant's decision to go back to the finger-gun gesture in the Memphis Grizzlies' 110-108 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday wound up costing him money.
The NBA fined Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant $75,000 after he again made a gun gesture with his fingers in his team’s 110-108 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday, despite receiving a warning from the NBA for performing the same celebration earlier this week.
Morant has been suspended multiple times in the past for incidents involving actual guns. In 2023, he was suspended eight games after flashing a gun on Instagram at a Colorado nightclub. Then, in May of the same year, he was suspended 25 more games after again showing off a gun while in a car during another Instagram video.
Morant made the gesture twice during a win over Miami despite the league warning him about it after his previous game.
