After taking a year off in 2024 to recover from hormone-related hair loss, Ms. G — Massachusetts’ state groundhog — resumed her weather-forecasting duties with pride Sunday morning.

Massachusetts groundhog Ms. G has some bad news for people hoping for the New England winter to come to an end in the near future.

The official groundhog of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Ms. G, saw her shadow on Saturday morning just like Punxsutawney Phil.

After missing last year’s event due to illness, Ms. G, Massachusetts’ official state groundhog, is back and ready to make her prediction on Feb. 2. For the 17th year, she will emerge to determine whether the state will face six more weeks of winter or have an early spring.
