Transportation crews from East Tennessee heading to the Midstate to assist in winter storm recovery
Crews from Knoxville are heading to the Volunteer State’s middle region to help in areas that were hit hard by this weekend’s winter storm.
The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed at least three people died during the winter storm that swept across the state.

Photos capture winter weather in East Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Winter weather has arrived in East Tennessee, with photos capturing flurries of snow that is expected to mix with sleet and freezing rain later in the day. Storm Team 6 is tracking the winter storm as it moves across the region.
Following the winter storm, temperatures in East Tennessee will remain freezing. A strong cold front will usher in arctic-like air into the region with wind chills dropping to 3 to 8 degrees above zero across much of the region, according to the National Weather Service's Jan. 24 report.
Winter weather is possible for some areas across the southeast, and the First Alert Weather Team is following any potential for snow closely.
