Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel won the hilly second stage of the Tour de France on Sunday after holding off defending champion Tadej Pogačar and two-time winner Jonas Vingegaard in a sprint to the line.

Mathieu van der Poel made it two wins from two stages for Alpecin-Deceuninck at the 2025 Tour de France, winning a frantic stage into Boulogne-sur-Mer on Sunday afternoon and taking over the race lead from his team-mate Jasper Philipsen.

Geraint Thomas, the 2018 winner of the Tour looks like he was one of the riders delayed by that crash. Tim Wellens took two points mountain classification points on the category three climb of the Cote du Haut Pichot, with Tadej Pogacar taking the other on offer.
