The Texas Longhorns beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders 2-1 in Game 1 of the Women's College World Series championship series on Wednesday night in a contest that included multiple controversies, a stunning mistake by a star pitcher and more emotional swings -- and minutes spent in replay review -- than one could count.

Reese Atwood hit a go-ahead, two-run single for Texas when Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady was trying to walk her intentionally in the sixth inning, and the Longhorns beat the Red Raiders 2-1 in Game 1 of the Women's College World Series finals on Wednesday night.

The 2025 Women's College World Series Finals between Texas and Texas Tech start on June 4 at 8 p.m. ET Game 2 of the best two-out-of-three series will be Thursday, June 5 at 8 p.m., and Game 3, if necessary, will be Friday, June 6.
