That ties Melissa for the 3rd strongest storm on record for the Atlantic Basin by pressure. It ties with the “Labor Day” Hurricane of 1935 and comes in behind Gilbert in 1988 (888 mb) and Wilma in 2005 (882 mb). This storm was the strongest to ever make landfall in Jamaica and the strongest storm of 2025.
