Ofelia Torres has spent almost every day of the past month at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where the 16-year-old Lake View High School student is fighting cancer.

Demar King, 35, is charged in the fatal shooting death Saturday of Odeal G. Curley, 40, of the South Side, police said.

The No Kings “Hands off Chicago” protest was one of roughly 2,500 similar demonstrations against the Trump administration planned across the country and globe, according to organizers.

The Administration has also sought to crack down on crime in major cities such as Washington, D.C., and Memphis. Trump has long railed against crime in Chicago, calling it a “shooting disaster” as far back as 2013 and repeatedly pointing to gun violence in the city.

While the overall numbers remain low, women in their 30s and 40s are getting diagnosed with breast cancer at a higher rate than in the past.
