Dollar Tree announced it would be closing nearly 1,000 Family Dollar and a handful of Dollar Tree locations, with stores shuttering by mid-year, according to a statement that released last week.

Discount retailer Dollar Tree is planning to reopen some 99 Cents Only stores that have closed, rebranding them and filling them with their own products.

A popular discount store chain is closing 1,000 locations. According to The Stree t, Dollar Tree made a major investment in another discount chain, Family Dollar, several years ago.
