Hurricane Melissa has made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm, the strongest ever to hit the island. According to the National Hurricane Center, Melissa made landfall in southwestern Jamaica near New Hope with estimated maximum sustained winds of 185 mph.
We will be very fortunate if Melissa does not cause a humanitarian disaster, even as Florida is again in the clear of a strange 2025 hurricane season.
