The NHL confirmed earlier reports that the New York Islanders will host the All-Star Game in 2027 rather than 2026.

Mathieu Darche called it “unfortunate” the NHL has scrapped plans to hold an Olympic send-off event at UBS Arena in February. But the Islanders general manager believes Long Island hockey fans will still ultimately benefit with the building now slated to host the league’s All-Star Game and skills competition Feb. 5-7, 2027.

The NHL reportedly will no longer hold an Olympic sendoff event at the home of the New York Islanders this season and will instead hold All-Star Weekend at UBS Arena in 2027, according to ESPN.

The NHL first announced on Feb. 18, 2024, that UBS Arena, which opened in 2021, would host the 2026 All-Star Weekend. But on April 29, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, speaking to the Associated Press Sports Editors at the NHL office in Manhattan, announced the change of plans to an Olympic send-off.

The National Hockey League® announced today that the New York Islanders will host the 2027 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend at UBS Arena, on Long Island, N.Y. The event is scheduled for Feb. 5, 6 and 7, and the weekend’s festivities will be broadcast by ESPN and ABC.
