Gary Jones disappeared on Feb. 8 while out on Lake Oconee with Joycelyn Wilson, his fiancée who was a Spelman College professor.

Yesterday marked one month since Gary Jones and his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson, vanished while boating on Lake Oconee.

The body of Georgia teacher Gary Jones has been pulled from the tourist lake where he vanished while celebrating his 50th birthday with his fiancée, who was found dead exactly a month earlier. The Westminster Schools teacher and coach was found dead in 45 feet of water among timber in Lake Oconee Sunday afternoon,

Jones and his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson, vanished while boating on Lake Oconee in early February. Wilson’s body was recovered the next day. Mike Jones says these have been some of the worst days of his family’s lives. “My parents can finally grieve now that Gary is coming home,” he said.

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — A funeral and celebration of life has been scheduled for a beloved metro Atlanta coach and teacher Gary Jones who died after drowning in Lake Oconee.

The search for Gary Jones’ body lasted 29 days before he was found. Jones and his fiancé, Spelman College professor Joycelyn Wilson, went missing in February.
