The Brad Marchand Era in Boston has come to a close. The longtime Bruins forward was sent to the Panthers in a trade deadline stunner that officially signaled Boston’s commitment to a rebuild — and helps the Panthers replace Matthew Tkachuk.

Florida Panthers newest star Brad Marchand didn't hide his emotion when addressing his thoughts after leaving the Boston Bruins.

The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins combined for one of the biggest surprises of the trade deadline last Friday as the reigning Stanley Cup champions acquired the Bruins captain Brad Marchand.

Panthers get: Forward Brad Marchand (at 50 percent salary retention) Bruins get: Conditional second-round pick in 2027 (becomes a 2027 or 2028 first-rounder if Florida wins two rounds of the playoffs this year and Marchand appears in at least 50 percent of the team’s playoff games)

Brad Marchand was back on the ice at TD Garden on Tuesday, skating with his new Florida Panthers teammates for the first time.

Marchand is week-to-week with an upper-body injury and will not play Tuesday, but he will join his new team for the start of a six-game road trip.

But instead of donning a black-and-gold Boston Bruins jersey -- or even a fourth-line merlot jersey -- Marchand was wearing a white sweater, emblazoned with “Property of Florida” surrounding a Florida Panthers logo.
