Massachusetts gas companies proposing to slash energy bills by 10% for the rest of the winter season say their support of “clean energy initiatives” has contributed to the soaring utility costs bearing down on Bay Staters.

State officials ordered gas utility companies to lower customer bills last week after many reported skyrocketing rates this year.

Eversource says it will cut gas bills in Massachusetts for March and April, and recoup the costs in the summer months. WBZ-TV's David Wade reports.
