The City Council on Monday is expected to pass two bills that expand New York’s landmark protections for restaurant delivery workers to cover workers who deliver groceries. The measures are a win not only for some 20,000 gig workers, but also for rival delivery apps that had complained they were being singled out unfairly under the existing law.
