The 2025-26 NBA season tips off with a doubleheader on Tuesday, Oct. 21, when the NBA returns to NBC and debuts on Peacock. The Oklahoma City Thunder hosts the Houston Rockets (7:30 p.m. ET) and the Golden State Warriors visit the Los Angeles Lakers (10 p.m. ET).
During his first game of the season, Denver Nuggets forward had arguably the best game of his NBA career. But it also represented an odd coincidence.
Prime has done its part by landing top-tier announcers. Ian Eagle and Kevin Harlan are two of the most recognizable voices in both basketball and football. They take lead play-by-play assignments, along with Eric Collins (the Hornets guy who’s always yelling) and Michael Grady (splitting between Prime and NBC).

The NBA chose to return to NBC partially because the broadcast network's reach exceeded the world of cable television. Its first night appears to have been a success in that respect. Tuesday's "NBA Tip-Off" doubleheader averaged 5.
