Paramount Global believed it had a framework for an agreement with series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Skydance, the studio’s likely imminent new owner, balked at the terms. The 'South Park' creators have brought on bulldog negotiator Bryan Freedman to turn up the heat.

Streaming disputes are notoriously weedsy, but here's the long and short of it. Back in 2019, Max secured exclusive U.S. streaming rights for "South Park" in a $500 million deal. When Paramount Plus launched in 2021, international streaming rights shifted to the platform, which is owned by Comedy Central’s parent company.

As of now, and at least for a little while, the long-running and beloved animated comedy series, South Park, is no longer streaming on Paramount+ in global markets. That last part is key. As pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter,
