The University of West Florida’s selection of Díaz to succeed outgoing President Martha Saunders also drew pushback from many of the Pensacola-based school’s supporters.

Diaz will replace Saunders on an interim basis on July 14, but if recent history is an indicator, he could likely become the permanent replacement.
