New York State Police said the father of a 9-year-old girl who was initially the subject of an Amber Alert and was later found dead has been charged with her murder.

Ticonderoga, NY (WRGB) — A man is facing murder charges in the death of his 9-year-old daughter, who was the subject of an AMBER Alert over the weekend. Authorities now believe, Melina Galanis Frattolin, was never truly missing, and that her father, Luciano Frattolin staged the entire disappearance to cover up her death.
According to New York State Police, Melina Frattolin was last seen around 9:40 p.m. near the popular vacation Lake George Village area, New York.
Police in Warren County issued an AMBER Alert early Sunday for a young girl that was missing. Sources have confirmed to NewsChannel 13's Mark Mulholland that the girl has been found dead. Police have not yet released any information about where the child was found dead.
