California Republicans called on President Donald Trump to scale back Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids targeting illegal immigrants without criminal records who are working in industries heavily reliant on migrant labor.

Six California Republicans have sent a letter to Trump urging him to focus on targeting violent criminals, saying that sweeping ICE raids are instilling widespread fear in their communities and driving workers out of critical industries.

The legislators say they want Trump to allow pathways to legal status for non-criminal undocumented migrants ‘with longstanding ties to our communities.’
