University of Chicago student Karen Chuchuca thought of her father, an Ecuadorian immigrant who has worked as a truck driver for 25 years, when President Donald Trump signed an executive order earlier this week reinforcing a federal law requiring commercial motor drivers speak English.

May Day has passed, but protests continued across the Chicago area this weekend as a group opposing Trump administration policies extended the holiday into a three-day event.

In some countries, it's a public holiday honoring labor, but in the U.S., activists will use the day as a call to action against President Trump's policies.
