Bill O’Brien, the former Patriots OC and current Boston College coach, had lofty praise for McDaniels during his regular appearance on WEEI this week. O’Brien shot down the criticism that McDaniels was hired because of nostalgia surrounding the glory days of Brady.

Once again, Josh McDaniels will fill the New England Patriots offensive coordinator position. As expected, the team is hiring McDaniels after speaking with him Tuesday, according to CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones. The Patriots made the move official on Wednesday.
