Vigilantes will start airing on April 7, 2025 exclusively on Crunchyroll. This is the same day as the Japanese release

A prequel to popular anime “ My Hero Academia ” is coming exclusively to Sony’s Crunchyroll streaming service outside of Asia next month.

Vigilantes takes place years before the events of the main series, and follows a trio of underground heroes who illegally start fighting criminals to protect their town when the heroes don’t show up.

Vigilantes is the spin-off of the hugely popular series, My Hero Academia. The manga for this series actually ran for quite some time, between 2016 and 2022, which is 6 whole years and quite a good run for any series. The series concluded with 15 volumes in total, which gives animators a lot to work with.

New episodes of the My Hero Academia prequel series will stream the same day it airs in Japan. Though the main My Hero Academia anime series is set to end later this year, its gritty prequel is about to make its streaming debut on Crunchyroll.

Academia season 8 will be its last, which means at one of the defining shonen of the past decade is about to end. Or… is it? The beloved anime will be wrapping up this year, but a new adventure in that world is just about to begin.
