The Texas Senate has passed a trio of proposals that would tighten rules around bail in Texas. Earlier this month, Gov. Greg Abbott named “bail reform” as an emergency item for the state’s current legislative session.

Opponents of the bail reform package say the proposed changes are based on false pretenses and could unjustly keep innocent people in jail.
