The Trump administration’s intensifying campaign against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell hit a boiling point Thursday.

Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought accused Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Thursday of an “ostentatious” overhaul of the independent agency’s fiscal headquarters amid an increasingly aggressive campaign by President Trump to get Powell to step down from the job.

President Donald Trump's budget chief said that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell "has grossly mismanaged the Fed." Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought also suggested Powell had misled Congress about a pricey renovation of the central bank's headquarters.
