People with Barclays accounts were unable to access their funds or use online banking due to a technical issue over the weekend - the bank has now apologised

Barclays customers are experiencing intermittent errors with payments and transfers for a second day after serious IT problems that also affected the bank's app and online banking. Customers have told the BBC they are unable to make essential transactions, ranging from buying baby milk to completing a house move.

Barclays says an IT glitch that locked customers out of accounts is now fixed after the fault caused major problems with payments for two days and reportedly disrupted house moves.

Barclays customers are facing a third day of disrupted services on Sunday following an IT problem. Online and mobile banking have been hit during the problem, which began on Friday. The bank said people could see an outdated balance with payments made or received not showing.

The advice from the banking giant has led to widespread criticism on social media, with many customers saying they have been left unable to buy shopping, pay bills or withdraw cash

Since Friday there have been problems with bank's app, online banking and payments and transfers.

Customers using the app on Sunday morning were greeted with a message headed “Thank you for bearing with us”. The message said Barclays was working to correct the user’s balance to ensure it shows all payments and the issue was “taking longer than we’d like to fix”.
