The NWSL will expand during the 2026 season with Denver the 16th franchise of the league, but what will their name be? Well, that depends on what the fanbase chooses.

Denver was announced as the league’s 16th franchise on Jan. 30 for a historic $110 million fee. The club received more than 2,000 season ticket deposits on that day alone and more than 5,000 by the end of that weekend, an NWSL expansion team record, all before the team even has a stadium to call home.

The NWSL’s Denver expansion franchise recently announced that it will allow fans to help name the team. In all honesty, that’s likely the right decision. It’s probably for the best after the Boston expansion team name snafu. (Sorry, Boston fans.)
