After his spectacular 64 on Friday, which vaulted him into a tie for third midway through the second round at the PGA Championship, Max Homa described a tricky situation that happened about three weeks ago with his coach John Scott Rattan.

It was further proof that Homa is coming out of the wilderness, a stretch marred by missed cuts and dreadful driving and all sorts of changes.

After Thursday's first round, the leaderboard at the 2025 PGA Championship was shocking. Jhonattan Vegas was on top by two, and the only past major champions in the top 19 were Matt Fitzpatrick and Keegan Bradley with long shots almost exclusively occupying the first two pages of the leaderboard.
