A Texas House committee just unanimously passed a bill that would prevent a total ban on consumable hemp products.

The bill faced fierce opposition from hardline conservatives who say it is policing speech and could allow the state to jail people over silly political memes.

Senate Bill 4 would raise the homestead property tax exemption for 5.7 million homeowners across the state, while SB 23 would give additional relief to homeowners over age 65 as well as disabled homeowners.
