On our local weather net, some whackers were called out by a sheriff deputy who was also a ham and on the net.... he said this whacker was doing about 70 mph going after this storm.

The common Storm Chaser is not in it for the news aspect and isn't really interested in any comms that aren't directly related to the weather. In fact, a lot of chasers have no more comms than their cellphone and laptop, as they aren't into spotting or communicating with other chasers.

Feb 22, 2024 · Michigan has a snow storm going right now and communication is critical for travel. My son, and wife, are in a 4x4 jeep that has a slight lift and big tires. So far along the highways the Rapid Radios have had 2 bars better signal than his ATT cell phones.

Oct 1, 2024 · With all the huge trees up here the damage is much worse. I am still digesting the things I see here in Dacusville, the crushed houses, the number of trees and power poles down. What a mess, but I will say one thing for small communities there was a big cardboard sign that said free water and food at the community center and they were not lying.
